Habiba Atta, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Ahmadu Bello University

I teach undergraduate and postgraduate students about microorganisms and how to apply them for beneficial uses in health, industry, and the environment.

What I love the most about my job is the interaction I share with my students.

My typical day at work starts with a morning class, after which I put on my lab coat and hit the laboratory to supervise students' activities, and then return to my office to read some articles and prepare for my next class.

I have Bachelor's, Master's and doctorate degrees in Microbiology. It's necessary to have a doctorate degree in your relevant field of study if you want to have a career in academics and research.

In the future, I would love to be actively involved in volunteering to teach young kids having learning difficulties in science subjects, advocate for preventing environmental pollution, and mentoring young girls who seek a career in STEM.

For fun, I love dancing to party jams with my kids, trying out new cooking recipes, watching movies, reading, and solving crossword puzzles.
