eBay

eBay is a global commerce leader that connects millions of buyers and sellers around the world. This online marketplace exists to enable economic opportunity for individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations of all sizes. My team and I are custodians of eBay's data. We build all the data products and services and applications so eBay can use this data to build cool insights.

I love working with data and make sense out of it. This allows eBay to make better decisions for buyers and sellers around the world.

I typically meet with my customers to understand what is working for them and if they have any challenges. Then I meet with my engineering team to talk to them about these challenges and brainstorm with them on how to solve these hard problems. It is as if I spent the entire day doing Sudoku and going from Moderate to Hard level.

I studied, Math and Operations Research in college and grad school. I learned all the mathematical tools and then I learned to apply these tools to solve hard problems. My very first job was building tools to understand the performance of switches that our company sold. I gradually started building more complicated models and tools to understand how the products that we sold are functioning. I became interested in learning about how business works, so I went back to school and earned an MBA to better understand how research is done and can be used to build products. Today, a significant amount of my time is spent on defining: What is the problem? What are the solutions? What is the benefit to the customers? What is the benefit to my company? And then deciding - let's do it!. I have worked in Motorola, IBM, Huawei, and now eBay.

I want to get more and more insights from data and make sure anyone can access data and learn something from it. I want to make sure that all decisions are based on data.

I build communities, I paint, I read books, I hike, and volunteer.
