Lead Engineer in Innovation

AVL in the UK

AVL is one of the world’s leading mobility technology companies for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry, and beyond. We are reimagining motion for a greener, safer, better world of mobility.

I really enjoy solving problems and fixing issues, as well as working with a great team! I love the continual learning I get every day - always something new!

I begin my day ensuring that the test cell I look after are all working fully, and then complete some legislative checks on a test cell (weekly checks). I also complete project work and background tasks such as process writing.

I completed GCSEs then A-Levels (in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry) before progressing onto a Jaguar Land Rover Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in 2014, which was when I began working in my current job role. Whilst an apprentice, I completed NVQ Level 2 and 4 qualifications, a Foundation Degree in Engineering, and a B(Eng) Honors Degree in Applied Engineering from the University of Warwick. I was awarded Freedom of the City of Coventry in April 2023 for my 7+ years service, including Degree Apprenticeship, at a company within the city bounds. And was I shortlisted in the Vehicle Development category in the 2023 Autocar Great Women Rising Stars awards, for my work as Technical Sales Support and Innovation - Lead Engineer within AVL UK in June 2023.

I aim to apply and achieve the Incorporated Engineer status, as well as continue to work in Engineering and specialise in Emissions. I want to own a house and a dog in the next few years, as well as continue my hobbies in art and baking.

I draw regularly, creating art of celebrities, characters and sometimes family or friends, and bake most weekends! I really enjoy watching films and also play video games, as well as taking an interest in skincare and makeup. I also own a hamster!

Always try your best, enjoy what you do, and don't be afraid of change!
