iTalent Digital, a company I founded. I also founded GLAM (Girls Leadership Academy Meetup) and MojoRank. iTalent Digital helps big companies with their technology projects, and also has a team of software engineers that build specialized software. MojoRank is a company that uses artificial intelligence to help companies recruit the very best people to work with them, and find them faster than anyone else.
CEO means Chief Executive Officer, which means the big boss! I make sure all of the people in the company have the resources, support and guidance they need to do perform at their very best.
I love working with technology because it allows me to be very creative - I can use technology to solve problems and help people in an unlimited number of ways. Every time I see a problem I think, How can I solve this? And often, it can be solved at least partially through technology. It is great to be able to help so many people!
My company has offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Mexico. So I do a lot of traveling. I also spend time with customers, either on the phone, videoconference or in person. I have a big team of people and so I also have lots of calls and meetings with my associates, as well as meetings with investors, influencers, and anyone who is involved in some way with my company. I spend a lot of time researching and keeping up with the latest trends so I can continue to help the company adapt to how the marketplace evolves.
I learned how to code when I was 13 years old and I loved it! I knew from that moment that I wanted to work in technology. I paid my way through university by coding and creating software for local businesses. Then I went to work for big companies like Apple and Cisco. After that, I was ready to start my own technology company.
Lately I have been doing more and more in the area of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is already part of our everyday lives and it is going to continue to get better at helping people and solving problems. I see myself continuing to advance in the area of AI and machine learning (ML).
I have a young son and his dad and I love doing fun things with him, including cooking, painting, coding, and lots of other activities. I also like to sail and hang out with friends.
Mahatma Ghandi said, “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” I love this quote because it reminds me that I can be gentle and earth-shaking at the same time! I am very driven by nature. This quote helps me remember that I can be bold and move mountains — gently!
