I love to develop the people who work for me and see them progress. I ended up being managed by a graduate I trained. That was great.
I start with emails. Then mostly online meetings. While checking and responding to instant messages. Approving budgets and implementations.
I knew I wanted to become a coder from a young age. Computer Science was my area of study for GSCE and A levels. I went to university for Computer Studies and earned a Bachelor of Technology degree from Nottingham Trent University. While at uni, I started as a graduate Trainee Programmer (coder) and gained enough experience to be promoted to an Analyst Programmer. After 2 years, I moved on to HSBC, a financial services organisation that serves more than 40 million customers, ranging from individual savers and investors to some of the world’s biggest companies and governments. During the next 7+ years, I was able to continue developing my computer science skills while also gaining HR, training and development, and teamwork skills through various managerial roles. I then moved on to Aviva, a leading Insurance, Wealth & Retirement business in the UK for the next 2+ years. As a Platform Manager there, I was building on my skills and gaining more new ones - like managing managers, developing additional engineering leadership skills, and driving results. All these roles have led me to LSEG Data & Analytics, where I am now a Director!
Hopefully, a long and healthy life where I continue to do work that I enjoy.
