Her Health Haven
I'm the Co-Founder of a nonprofit called Her Health Haven. This nonprofit works to educate and raise awareness on the menstrual cycle and help raise money for menstrual supplies to end period poverty. At my high school, I'm the president of a district-wide club called Science Alliance. This club works to pair high school "mentors" with fifth grade "buddies" to help our buddies create a science fair project that they can present to judges at the end of the year. For Science Alliance, I work with my officer team, the district, and parents to pair buddies and mentors together, and I make sure that the club runs smoothly throughout the year. I lead trainings and meetings, and I make sure that all mentors and buddies know what they are doing so that everyone can have a great time in the program. For Her Health Haven, I help write articles to teach girls about their periods and the menstrual cycle as a whole. I also help raise money so we can buy menstrual products to donate to shelters in need (so we can combat period poverty!).
I love how both in Her Health Haven and Science Alliance, I am given the opportunity to work with a team to impact others in a positive way. I'm able to teach others new things, raise awareness, and make an impact on my community. For Science Alliance, my favorite part is seeing the excited faces of all the buddies as they see their science fair projects come to life!
For Her Health Haven, I work with my team to come up with article ideas and plan fundraisers so we can donate to shelters. For Science Alliance, I work with my officer team to make sure all meetings run smoothly - all slides and materials are prepared and everyone knows their roles.
In Science Alliance, I started off as a mentor. I then applied to be an officer. First, I became a Communications Officer, then Vice President, and now I'm the President! It was a long journey, but it was definitely worth it. For Her Health Haven, my friends and I decided to create this nonprofit after we learned we all shared this interest, and the organization has kept on growing ever since.
As an incoming high school senior, I am excited for my last year! I also cannot wait to go to college and experience so many things in this new, upcoming chapter of my life.
I love to dance and sing, so I am a part of my school's choir and dance team. I also enjoy going out with my family and friends, traveling and seeing new places. Some of my hobbies are roller/ice skating, reading, and listening to music.
