Software Engineer

Google

I work within the Search Engineering Productivity (EngProd) team. Google, as a company, has a mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. As a Software Engineer, my day to day is much more than just coding away. In fact, I'd say coding is only about 20-30% of my day. Much of what I do is figuring out the inputs and outputs of what I want to do/fix. I do this by learning new tools and talking/asking questions to people who might know.

My job is like solving different puzzles every day. A lot of the time, you don't know beforehand what you might get. It's like a Pandora's box, especially in a place like Google!

Asking questions to people who did things related to what I'm currently working on, writing some code, and testing it. Much of my time, however, is spent trying to figure out why something isn't working as I thought it would.

I went to college for mathematics. During that time, I also picked up Electrical Engineering because I really likes breaking things apart and learning how the hardware around our house worked. After a year at Tesla as an intern, I felt like puzzle-solving that I loved about hardware was more gratifying as a software engineer. I spent a year teaching myself how to code and now I'm at Google!

One day, I want to be my own CEO of a startup.

I like to go out to restaurants and try out different places. I also like to watercolor paint.
