Senior Manager, Benefits

eBay. I design, manage and administer employee benefits programs. Currently I am responsible for the retirement and welfare programs. I also have experience with health care and wellness programs.

I design and manage benefits programs that support employees in their overall health, financial and emotional wellness.

I enjoy working on a team with great people both internal eBay partners as well as benefits vendors and consultants. I love managing projects and programs that make a difference in employees' lives supporting their overall wellness.

I spend a lot of time connecting with internal partner such as the Legal, Payroll and People Teams as well as meeting with benefit plan vendors and consultants to ensure programs are running smoothly. This includes many meetings, working on the computer and responding to emails. I analyze program utilization and look at data from other high tech companies to make sure our programs are competitive and that we are up to date on the latest trends in benefits. I also help to interpret the policies and put together communications to make sure we are promoting the programs effectively. We also need to a make sure that plans are in compliance with legislation. It's complicated and always changing!

When I was finishing my senior year at Berkeley, I had no idea what I wanted to do. One company I interviewed with thought I would be a good fit in "human resources." I had no idea what that meant, but I took the job and learned about the different areas of HR, such as recruiting, compensation, employee relations, benefits, etc. I started as a recruiter, but ultimately decided to specialize in employee benefits working primarily for high tech companies. I took a few years off when my daughters born so that I could support them and volunteer at the school and support their activities, but I also started a professional organizing company during this time. It was fun to help people organize and simplify their spaces during the day when my daughters were in school. When my daughters became teenagers, I got back into my career as a benefits professional. I have over 20 years of experience in this field. I've worked mostly for high tech companies, but also worked as a consultant, and for a health plan and a berry company.

I will continue to grow in my career as a benefits professional and want to do the best job I can and make a difference at eBay. I also have life goals to travel more and to buy a piece of land to design and build a sustainable "green" home with my husband.

Spending quality time with the important people in my life - my daughters, husband and girlfriends. I like watching movies with my daughters, walking on the beach and hiking with my dog, jogging and spinning on my Peloton, spending time with my husband on home improvement projects, going on adventures with my girlfriends, and I listening to audiobooks and podcasts.

One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. - Michelle Obama
