AWS provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go basis. I am a 'subject matter expert' in cloud cost optimisation. I guide customers through ways to optimise their current and future AWS spend. I focus on large, global and strategic customers and dive deep into their cost and usage data to recommend and educate customers on long-term cost management and optimisation strategies.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with customers everyday. Helping determine optimal pending and therefore making the technology used at the customer level more cost effective is really rewarding. I also like developing automation for this to make other people's jobs easier.
I normally split up my day. First, I help find specific solutions for customers on cost queries they may have. Then, I develop code in Python to help a wide range of customers using automated solutions.
At university, I studied Mathematics with a year of industrial placement. This gave me insights into the working world and helped me join the graduate scheme at KPMG. From there, I worked as a DevOps engineer. I found my passion for cost optimisation while earning a Master's degree in IT. Then I moved to AWS to provide support to a wider customer base.
At the moment, it is to keep doing what I am doing. I'm always trying to help as many customers as I possibly can!
Alongside work, I teach and compete in Strong (wo)man. This involves picking up lots of heavy things. I am also a film nerd and love a good recommendation!
