I am a Clinical Research Assistant at the Leishmaniasis Clinical Laboratory at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease that is found in parts of the tropics, subtropics, and southern Europe. It is spread through the bite of infected sand flies. I am involved in a project aiming to develop a molecular diagnostic kit to detect and quantify the specific Leishmaniasis parasites in patients' lesions and to determine the susceptibility of various Leishmaniasis parasites to different drugs.

I love connecting with girls my age who are sometimes unmotivated to pursue a career in STEM. I also love hearing from amazing female role models who have incredible careers in STEM and broke all stereotypes to get to where they are today.

As a university student, I spend a lot of time in class, studying, and working in the lab.

As a student, I often search for ways in which I could be involved with STEM.

I want to become a medical doctor abroad and encourage other women to follow their dreams, even if they are considered untraditional!

I love reading about new biology research as well as going to the beach and traveling with my family!
